TDNA Scholarship 2022

This year TDNA will be holding a scholarship mid-year to give students another opportunity to perform on stage. Performing is a big part of dancing, singing, acrobatics etc and December is a long time to wait for most students to perform. The last couple of years it has been hard to find opportunities for students to perform so we have decided to hold a scholarship for TDNA students and if it works well we will make it an annual half yearly event.

How the scholarship will run:

This event is all about fun and giving students the opportunity to build self-esteem, perform and experience competitions in an encouraging environment. If you have ever attended a dance eisteddfod before it will be run very similar just on a smaller scale and for That's Dance and Acrobatics students only.

Every class will learn a 1-minute routine. Every student will perform that routine one at a time for an adjudicator and audience. Tiny Tots can have a student helper on stage or side stage with them if they choose.

We are lucky enough to have our old dance teacher Tracy Hartin who will be flying up from Sydney to be our adjudicator.

Tracy is an extremely experienced performer, singer, actor, choreographer, and studio owner.

All students will receive a report from Tracy with encouraging and constructive feedback.

All students will receive a Ribbon. Trophies will be awarded in each section for students who place.  Trophies we will also be awarded as overall winner in each age group, out of those student one will be awarded the overall winner will receive a free private lesson for 12 months that is valued at $1200.

This event will run over 2 days. I have attached the first Draft program below. Please advise me if there are any mistakes.

Students must wear black dance class attire; example, leggings, shorts, leotard, crop tops, singlet etc.

Ballet students will need to wear black leotard, pink ballet stockings, ballet shoes and hair in a bun. Student can also wear make up.

We will be including a Student Choreography and Improvisation section in each age group.

Students Choreography: Students can create their own routine either as a Soloist or with a friend as a duo or trio. Their routine can be of any genre, and they can also create their own costume. Please email your music to Melanie.

Improvisation: This is a really fun section as there is no way to get your dance wrong. The adjudicator will choose a piece of music and play the music to the competitors once and then student will make up a dance on the spot to the piece of music.

Student scholarship entry fees will be $10 per dance/section.

Hall entry fees for spectators $10 per adult per day or $15 per adult for 2 days. $5 per child/pensioners per day or $7 per child pensioner for 2 days. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

All students will automatically be entered into there class section and invoices will be emailed. We do encourage all our students to participate but if for some reason your child is unable to please let me know. If you would like to enter the Student Choreography or Improvisation section you can do so by completing a online entry below.
