TDNA Scholarship 2026

We're excited to announce that our annual That's Dance and Acrobatics Scholarship Event will be held again in the July school holidays - now in its 5th year! Thanks to the incredible success and support over the past four years, we've made this an annual tradition we look forward to every year.

This event is a fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence, develop performance skills, and experience what it's like to dance as a soloist - something very different from performing in a group. We know December can feel like a long wait between performances, so this gives our students another chance to shine on stage mid-year.

For our newer students - please don't worry! It's not as daunting as it may sound, and we truly encourage every student to give it a go in this fun, supportive, and positive environment.

How the Scholarship Works

This is an internal studio event, designed to inspire, uplift, and give students a taste of performing solo in front of an adjudicator and audience - with a strong emphasis on encouragement, effort, and growth.

Each class has learnt a short 1-minute routine which students will perform individually.

Tiny Tots (and anxious students of any age) are welcome to have a helper or friend either side-stage or on stage with them.

Our wonderful adjudicator, Tracey Hartin-Smith, will be returning this year. Tracey taught both Ally and Mel and understands the spirit of this event perfectly.

Every student will receive a written report from Tracey with positive, constructive feedback, and each class will have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners crowned with tiaras.

We'll also present age group trophies and tiaras, as well as a Studio Overall Winner, who will receive free weekly private lessons for 12 months (valued at $1,400!).

What to Wear

Dance/Acro Classes: Any Black class attire (e.g., shorts, leggings, leotards, crop tops or singlets).

Ballet Students: Any style Black leotard, pink ballet tights, ballet shoes, and hair in a bun.
(Dancewear and tights are available from Kmart and other local dance stores.)

Extra Opportunities to Perform

There will also be two optional fun sections in each age group:

1. Student Choreography:

Students may create their own routine (solo, duo or trio) in any style.

Students can create their own costumes.

Recommended song length is under 2.5 minutes.

If you need help with music editing, please see me at the studio and I will be happy to help.

2. Improvisation Section:

Music is chosen and played once by the adjudicator.

Students improvise together on stage - no right or wrong!

Each participant will wear a number for judging purposes.
